The next one. Surely there can't be too many sequences of even just 3
letters that would have more than 8 results? Let your clients know that they
can type either the first or last name (or nickname, if there is one, and
those display first: so there's a good way of prioritizing what will show
up).

Four quick tabs, or a single shift-tab, then start typing - it will locate
the segment of the mini address book where the last name starts with that
letter - typing 2 or more letters quickly gets deeper in. You can't get to
the Search box by tabbing, though. But the normal autocomplete method never
did "contains' either - just first or last time.  This way does last name.
