Hi Jim,

I can only speak to one of these issues.  As far as I know, there is no
"Microsoft database daemon" connected with Word.  I have a feeling you're
talking about the "Microsoft AU daemon".  The AU stands for AutoUpdate and
its daemon has nothing to do with the functioning of the main Office apps;
all it does is control the Microsoft AutoUpdate function.
