We have a rather strict password policy here for email: 3 strikes and the account is locked. So we are very sensitive to authentication issues.
What I've found is that Entourage 11.1 or 11.2 clients are not always authenticating properly. Oddly, they may authenticate to receive, but not to send, or vice-a-versa. For users that can't send, I've found putting in their account & password in the SMTP Advanced Options will work as a quick fix. Other email clients (Mail, Thunderbird) seem to be OK, but admittedly my sample of non-Entourage clients isn't very large. We have about 250 Entourage based clients however. In exasperation, I've temporarily turned off CRAM-MD5 authentication for IMAP (but no SMTP) on the server and these issues have gone away. Anyone have a better solution? Turning off CRAM-MD5 is not a long-term solution for us. -- Simon Brown Network Analyst First Collateral Services (925) 349-1397 -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
