I'm not skeptical at all. Here's a simplified scenario. Suppose Spotlight works something like this:
1) SL receives notice of a change in the file named 'xyz' from the file system 2) SL asks the file system for the contents of "xyz" 3) SL indexes the contents under the key 'xyz' 4) when queried, SL creates a link that, when clicked, sends the filesystem a request to open file 'xyz'. All that is needed is to replace 'file system' with Entourage' and 'file' with 'item': 1) SL receives notice of a change in the item named 'xyz' from Entourage 2) SL asks Entourage for the contents of "xyz" 3) SL indexes the contents under the key "xyz' 4) when queried, SL creates a link that, when clicked, sends Entourage a request to open item 'xyz'. [Of course, the "key" for an entourage item is its database key, not its 'name'.] So, if Apple provides the appropriate API to MBU, the "monolithic" quality of the database would be hidden from Spotlight. The only reason for skepticism would be the rather rough relations between the companies, not any giant technical issues. -- Joshua On 1/11/06 11:37 AM, "Barry Wainwright" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Heh! > > I'm not so sceptical.
