There's no need to BinHex anymore (or MacBinary for that matter). Both
StuffIt and BOMArchiveHelper (The app that handles the ZIPing in OS X)
create archives that preserve the file's resource forks and metadata. The
archives themselves don't need any encoding either because they don't have
resource forks (StuffIt archives haven't had a resource fork in *at least*
five years).
