Hi Barbara, I think that's just how it works when you highlight a name, but you can change it like this: Hold down the Command (Apple) key and click on the highlighted name to unselect it. Then click on another column title, like Company, to sort by that designation, and then click back to Name. That should do it (until the next time you select a specific contact :-).
