It's difficult to tell if the problem goes away because it is so
intermittent in the first place.  Last time I tested for several weeks (3 or
4) without WindowShade and APE and the problem didn't occur.  But then I
re-installed and ran with WindowShade and APE for months before the problem
occurred again.
