Unfortunately the < > angled "brackets" subvert that preference. If you
remove them, you won't get the spell-check interfering.

By a strange quirk, however, if you first type or paste in the the URL
without the angled brackets, then add them, everything's fine (no
spell-check). Same if you paste it in with the brackets., then remove them,
then add them back! At least as long as you also have "Check spelling as you
type" pref on.

It seems that the spell checker needs to have the brackets absent to realize
it's a URL and permit your "ignore" pref to work (with "as you type" on).
Then adding the brackets in does not set it off again.
