Just to make certain you get a datapoint that your problem didn't stem from
one machine being Intel, the other PowerPC. I do this all the time (copy my
main identity from one computer to another. I've often been told to use an
IMAP account to prevent problems such as those you describe, but sometimes
I'll catch up on some of the unread debris in my inbox while on a long
flight, and IMAP wouldn't help there.

Actually, I use a syncronization utility (Synchronize! Pro X), which works
very well. My Database file is about a gigabyte, but with gigabit ethernet
it still takes less than a minute to accomplish the whole synchronization.

The key thing is to remember to use just one installation of Office between
synchronizations, and also to turn off alarms, because launching ANY MS
Office application will change the modification date/time flag for your
Entourage Database file, as will an alarm coming due.
