Claris Emailer is the root for Microsoft email clients. Jud Spencer was a
developer for Emailer and then came to work for Microsoft. In the beginning
when OE was being developed everyone would say...but you can do this in
Claris Emailer...do it like that.

OE did incorporate many of the popular Emailer features and added new ones
that we couldn't live without. OE developed into Entourage when it was
incorporated into the Office Suite of applications. This is where the
linking features came into play between the Office applications and the
required database so that tasks, notes etc could be used. There are many
features in Entourage that are not available in Outlook, but slowly the
MacBU is incorporating some of them into Entourage especially the exchange
functionality.
