Hi Diane, Thanks much for the quick reply and trouble-shooting recommendations. Per your suggestion, I dialed-up the ISP (Cox) to query them relative to their limit for outgoing attachments. Alas, after about an hour on hold I gave up the quest. However, another Lister has advised that Cox's limit is 10 MB. I had never tried to pass anything that large.
Meanwhile, following some amateurish fumbling around and a cold start the Mini/Entourage functions reverted to normal, i.e., once more I'm able to send large files. Cybermagic I guess. However, while in the hunt I availed myself of your very plain directions relative to checking the S.M.A.R.T status of the drive and was pleased to see it shown as "verified." Also, the 40 gig drive has plenty of usable storage space still available. So everything is okay for now and I thank you again for your help.
