Problem was solved (not by the ISP) but by creating more groups with fewer members. Then I could highlight the whole batch and drag them into the bcc box. I found one address that would not "send" under any circumstance - although I had never gotten a bounce notice on it in the past.
I also noticed a small peculiarity. When I dragged groups to the bcc box, I then had to click in the "to" box before I could send. Otherwise the subject line was duplicated in the bcc box instead of the addresses I had dragged there. Hello, Thanks for the response. Here's what's new. "That's strange. The error indicates you are sending to a large number of recipients." Well, Yes. There are 18 separate groups divided alphabetically (and by ISP - Yahoo, AOL, etc.) each group has about 30 members, for a total of over 550 addresses. This has never been a problem previously. This is an opt-in, moderated email list using "plain text" only. All the participants are friendly and enthusiastic. In experimenting with the problem I've found that some of the "groups of 30" will "send" others won't. Some of the groups will allow me to only send one message at a time. But one set of "three" groups "sent" okay. Or perhaps it is working only randomly. In reviewing the link you sent, I see this is probably an issue with my ISP, Indra's Net. I've sent them this info and will talk to them in the morning. I'll also try your suggestion about creating a new User. I had noticed long ago in Entourage 2004 that sometimes if there was one bad address I could not send anything until the bad address was weeded out. That's how the list got divided up into smaller groups originally - so I could more easily find the bad address that was holding things up.
