I have a problem filing messages in Entourage 2004 (Mac OS 10.4.11, MacBook Pro, Intel Core 2 Duo).
I read a message in the Inbox, and then use the Inbox's menu bar "Move" icon to select a folder or subfolder. But the message will not move there -- sometimes. I drag the read message from the Inbox to a folder or subfolder, but the message will not move there -- sometimes. I ran the Entourage database utility, but it found no errors. The database was over 1 gig, so I slimmed it down by removing many attachments to old emails, hunting down anything over 1 MB. I then ran the database utility (after backup) and compacted the database down to 650 MB. After a restart, the messages moved properly. Then yesterday, moving I moved six read messages to the same subfolder. They appeared to move properly. But the next time I looked at the Inbox, the previously moved messages were still in the Inbox. I ran the database utility again, but it reported no errors. I then created a new Entourage folder. Immediately, the messages stuck in the Inbox moved to the previously selected subfolder, without my having done anything. I deleted the new folder (unused).
