I am experiencing these same difficulties. I also had them during one
of the update cycles for Office 2004. I have not changed my files, I
have not deleted language packs, I have not moved anything.
Why does the richest software company on the planet have these
troubles? I have literally dozens of other apps, some of them big,
some small, I have updated many of these apps through multiple cycles,
without these problems.
Why, after paying hundreds of dollars, should I as the user have to
work around this stuff?

Is Office 2008 12.1 SP1 ready for prime time? Is anyone having, or

having, problems with it?
Some people have had trouble installing, but there are fixes for
that. Just
be aware that the database is upgraded and you cannot revert the
database to
12.0.1 if you decide to revert. Zip your database for safekeeping
just in
case.

As far as improvements there were about 50 to Entourage alone.

Also with SP1 you can run both Entourage 2004 and Entourage 2008 at
the same
time. Previously you could run all applications in both versions
except for
Entourage.
