Outgoing rules in Entourage apply to messages only *after* they are sent. You can not set a rule to catch mail as it leaves. However, for POP accounts this can be automatically accomplished with an Incoming rule in a round-about way. This can be accomplished with a manual process for IMAP accounts. I don't have a workaround for Exchange accounts. POP Accounts: 1. Create a new account and name it something like "Check Before Sending". 2. Do not include this account in your Send & Receive schedule. Uncheck the box at the top of the account window. 3. Use bogus sending information and server. You *don't* want this account to be able to send. 4. Create a rule that looks for things such as "Spam" in the Subject. 5. Set the Action to "Change Account" to "Check Before Sending". This will simply set the "From" for any replies to the bogus account and they can't go anywhere until you change the "From" to a valid account. It doesn't affect the original received message at all. IMAP Accounts: You can do similar to the above but it won't be as automatic. Create a second POP account with the exact same settings as your IMAP account but with a few changes. 1. Your IMAP account will be your "Receiving" account. Set a bogus SMTP (Outgoing mail) address so that it can no longer send. Name this account something like "My account - BLOCKED". 2. The POP account will be your "Sending" account. *Exclude* it from your Send & Receive schedule by unchecking the box at the top of the account window. 3. Enter a valid sending server address. Now, all your mail will be received by your IMAP account but when you reply you cannot send without changing the "From" dropdown menu to the POP account. This will be a manual process each time you send.
