Bob, is that board and the state personnel capable of doing such a report?

    ENTS

Last night I attended a Mount Tom Advisory Board Meeting that included
the Park Supervisor, Robert Carr. Carr and the Board had invited me to attend
to give them a status report on the trees of Mount Tom. Well, to make a long
story sort, I talked them into doing a fairly extensive documentation of the
trees and forests of Mount Tom, to include:

       1. Species distribution maps
       2. Stand and tree age profiles,
       3. Area of special aesthetic interest,
       4. State champion trees,
       5. Historic/witness trees,
       6. Trees meeting various dimension thresholds.
                a. height
                b. circumference
                c ENTS points

They all very enthusiastically embraced the proposed project, so it
looks like I've gone and stuck my foot in it. I made the pitch to them under
the auspices of ENTS. Fortunately, Mt Tom has great trees, so the project will
hopefully become a real labor of love. At present Mt Tom's Rucker Index stands
at 117.0. I think we can nurse it up to beween 118.0 and 118.5
