When I was at UMass in the early 90's I had meet an owner of a sugar shack in one of the surrounding towns that swore up and down that he had confronted a mountain lion while collecting his buckets. In any event, I hear that in Yellowstone the willows are growing back along the river enbankments and helping with the water quality by restricting erosion. I guess the wolf population has the elk population in check or atleast more wary and the elk have abandonded eating willow.
