Cork Tree!!!!! The NY Bot. Gard. is aggressively removing these guys, along with the ailanthus, and others.
This is great, because I can compare the other trees that y'all guessed with this tree to see the similarities and then further refine my id text. Thank you so much! Gotta figure out a prize. We planted 500 saplings in the fall so I I'll name one for you and send a pic?. White oak, black oak, white ash, spicebush, sassafras, red maple, and a few others I can't remember. Hopefully they will establish themselves in the spots where the cork, ailanthus and the other tree have been removed. So great to get this feedback .And I figured out a better way to post pix so you can see the previous posts with the current. (That may not make any sense....!)
