Larry, I'll send you the address directly.
If you drive up, I've also got the location of a grove of them that inlcudes the state champion which is even bigger - but may be dying. I think it's near LaCrosse, although I've never actually made it out yet to see them. It's on private property, but may be adjacent to a road. That grove just got the blight over the last ten years or so. You'd have to check it out on the way home so that you don't contaminate the Bayfield tree. Have you ever seen any big pines near Chafee-Foxboro? I recall a fat but short one in some smaller sugar maple and yellow birch alongside the road near the fire tower on Tower Road east of Hwy. 35 just south of where you go. Lee saw some similar shaped and sized ones in a study plot on Crotte Creek. Maybe your friend there knows something about them. Years ago, I used to go hunting in the Belden Swamp west of 35 in that area, northwest of Moose Junction and southwest of the Foxboro radio tower. Did you ever see the rock along the road in Empire Swamp marked "Hear lies Oscar, Killed by bear" where someone buried their bear hound?
