John,

I suspect that we'll find that it has spread more widely than we previously
believed. I'm hoping that cold temperatures will hold the tide back, though.
How cold did it get in Shelburne Falls this winter? In Florence, it got down to
-16F. However, in MTSF, s ooner or later, we'll begin to see mortality, but we
still may have a few years breathing room.

Hi All,

Unfortunately, the outbreak of HWA seems to be larger.  I have found it on the
Deerfield River in Shelburne Falls, below the Potholes, as well.  I would
suppose it is quite widespread, although probably first generation.  The
sightings are very limited within single trees, like each cluster was the
result of a single individual reproducing last summer.

I haven't seen any in Charlemont, but I guess I should look more closely.
