Barry, the national champion Q. prinoides is (or was) in southeast
Nebraska at about 24' in height, a seedling Q. ilicifolia in Lincoln
Ne. which I started about 12 years ago is probably about 16' in height
and kept single stemmed. Dwarf chinkapin oak has tolerated in excess
of -42 f here in North Dakota where I now live.  There is a lot of
interest in using it as a wildlife type plant.  Greg.
