         The image below shows the crowns of the new 140s in the Algonquin 
Grove. These pines will eventually join the 150s in Algonquin.
          Altogether MTSF has at least 86 that make 150. I say 86 because thats 
the number I've measured to date.
           With this banner season of growth, 2 or 3 more may have joined the 
club. Over the coming months, I'll be searching for new ones and faithfully 
reporting.
          There is only one other stand of white pines in New England that even 
approaches Mohawk. It is on private land in New Hampshire and has 50 to 60 
pines in the 150 class.
          After these two sites, the next highest number of 150s in New England 
is the Bryant Homestead in Cummington, MA with 5. Then comes Ice Glen in 
Stockbridge, MA with 3. Next is Pine Park in New Hampshire with 2. Four other 
New England sites have one each, and folks, that's it. I have measured them 
all.
