I don't have a problem with people hunting deer, especially if it's for food
and such. But I will not do it myself. No way. I could never purposely kill an
animal.
But yeah, without predators, I suppose the deer keep reproducing, but then
might not have enough food. There are a lot of deer here, but I don't think
they are overpopulated, not with the acreage of forest we have here. We have
herds of them on our property. They are so beautiful.

Jennifer,

The deer are over-populated and sickly.  There is a high mortality over winter
with no natural predators.  Would you rather they starve to death over winter?
Or die of disease?  It is not a lack of respect for the wildlife, but an
attempt to keep things in balance.  The Game Commission needs to stop programs
that create enclaves that increase deer populations when the forest can't
support the current population.  There are more deer in the state than there
ever have been.  I don't hunt, but I see it as a useful wildlife management
tool.  So you choose, starve to death over winter, or use hunting to reduce the
populations to sustainable levels.  There isn't any third option.
