Awesome tree! I wonder if anyone has considered coring the tree on the
deadwood side to age it. I wonder if it is a first or second "generation"
sprout or a true seedling. All the chestnuts I have cored in the Smokies
were likely second "generation" sprouts. That is, they were stump sprouts of
stump sprouts.
