Jenny,
This is sad. I'm sure you must have already thought of this, but wouldn't
someone in the ASPCA have any ideas of how to help? I've watched Animal
Precinct, and they seem to have a lot of ideas and good resources there. But
maybe you've already asked. It was just a thought.

ENTS,

Do you know anybody that has ever trapped dove sized birds? There are
45 ringneck doves that are roosted in trees in a small park in Queens,
NYC. They were released at some event and, being doves not homing
pigeons, they just flew to the nearest trees. It's horrifying.

20 have been rescued -  they are the weak, injured and babies (yes,
they used babies). 4 have died. They've been out there for 5 days now.
They are terrified and have no idea how to fend for themselves. They
will eat the seeds we put on the ground only if we are more than 20
ft. away.

We have many rehabbers that will care for them. And one guy in our
rescue group offered financial help. Are there people that trap birds
professionally? This is beyond our capabilities as a small volunteer
rescue group and there is NO SERVICE in NYC that seems to know how to
help, despite press (see links).

I'm sorry to post this non-tree discussion (they like roosting in the
white pines - good visibility), but I'm so sick in my heart about
this.

Jenny
