Barry,

The natural distribution area of the Norway Spruce (P. abies) includes
also parts of Norway. For a distribution map, see e.g.:

http://linnaeus.nrm.se/flora/barr/pina/picea/piceabiv.jpg

If the Siberian Spruce is included in P. abies as P. abies subsp.
obovata (as usually in Europe), the distribution stretches in the east
almost to the Pacific. If the Siberian Spruce is considered a species
(P. obovata), the distribution of the Norway Spruce goes only to the
Ural Mountains or little bit behind it. Between the two species or
subspecies is a wide introgression zone (dark red grid in the map)
with intermediate trees (from northern Scandinavia to southern Ural).
