Don, can you somehow get a recording of him narrating? What kind of prompting
does he need? The liquid kind?

Jenny-
Another not unrelated wilderness story/poem/narrative might be The Cremation of
Sam McGee (by Robert Service)...
My father-in-law, with a little prompting and a liberal 'old-fashioned' can in
his 80's still recite it!

Steve, I listed that one already on the document. LIke that one. Love Jack
London.

I alphabetized by first name, if you can believe it. It's just that we know
each other mostly by first names, so...

I have to suggest "To Build a Fire", by Jack London, where the spruce of the
North become a major player in the story.

Jenny,

I would add a few to the list:

The Mountains of California, by John Muir

My First Summer in the Sierra, by John Muir

Desert Solitaire, by Edward Abbey

Ecology of a Cracker Childhood, by Janisse Ray

?

I highly recommend all of these!

ENTS,

I made a word document with all the recommendations you made for me. I may have
missed stuff or left stuff out. So let me know and I'll update.

Thanks!
