Hi Mike,
this is an interesting finding. it actually brings the modern version of tree-ring analysis back to its beginning. A.E. Douglas, the scientist who brought cross-dating to the science, wanted to use tree rings to see if there was a relationship between solar variation and climate. As the meteorological records were too short at the time to determine a strong relationship [early 1900s], he turned to tree rings to extend meteorological records. So, while the study in this article might be correct, the trees are only 50 yrs old, which suggests some caution be thrown into the interpretation of the results. neil On Oct 19, 11:17 am, Mike Kowalski <[email protected]> wrote: > ENTS, > > Just saw this on BBC.
