People, There was an interesting clip on CBS News Tonight I wanted to share with those who missed it. It is a story of a man living in LA who was a landscaper. ten years ago when he bought his home in a run down section of the city, it was a scene of graffiti covered walls and iron bars. Prostitutes walked up and down the street. He began by planting trees and landscaping his yard, then planting trees around the neighborhood. The climate of the community changed over time as the plantings continued. Today many of the streets are shaded and crime is down. This relates to us because it demonstrated the power of the interaction between people and trees and the beneficial effects of plants.
