Even better, if the file had an embedded self-opening extension and a
user-friendly interface!

Don and Will,

I remember that BobVP had an Excel extension that did just that. If we beg at
the master's feet perhaps he will yield?

Now if Jon has software that can rotate your 3-D through 360 degrees, that
would be even more fascinating/instructive!

Jon,

The 3D models are used for data glitch identification and various spatial
studies as well. Also, the rotating models of these great trees are incredibly
inspirational tools. It allows for a view not often encountered or appreciated
by most people. For example, the tallest eastern hemlock looks rather ordinary
from the ground. But consider the views below based on direct measurements. Not
your typical hemlock! We can now generate scale views from any whole degree
direction.

The views below are main trunk branches and reiterated limb segments only- NO
limb branches yet.

Will, ENTS,
When you were talking about measuring the sequoias in California the
phrase "3D Modeling" of trees jumped out at me, as my profession is in
3D computer graphics. What I want to know is how the 3D data you
collect is used? Is it for volume measurements? Do you ever attempt
to visualize the data? Would something like that be of use to you?
