It is an extremely small grove of hemlocks and red spruce. It is attractive, 
but there is so little of it. I don't know why it survived. The surrounding 
forest is young and undistinguished.

That's a nice hemlock grove. I am embarrassed to say I haven't been 
up Parsonage Brook yet. 

I wonder how fast the pines are growing. One of the pines behind my 
house has grown from 103.1' x 9.5' to 116.5' x 10.1' in 6 years, and 
its bark looks similar to the one in the photo.
