Dale,
I'm glad you want to visit the Wizard of Oz Oak Grove - Robert Henry and I will
be happy to show it to you, and we'd also like to show you the North Syracuse
Cemetery Oak Grove and the Liverpool School Maple Grove ( that grove has Sugar
Maples est. over 300 years old including a giant gnarled twisty old Sugar
Maple51.9" dbh and well over 100 ft. tall - this tree has ancient scars that
could be similar to the 18th century Indian Paint trees the artist Robert
Griffing has written about - we still have to get to this grove with the laser
range finder).
You mentioned going to Fort Oswego - I know a great deal about Oswego and its
history - I worked at Fort Ontario as a seasonal interpreter for 9 years, and
have been off and on writing a book on Fort Ontario's long and dramatic
history, especially the French and Indian War - I've given talks at French and
Indian War re-enactments as recently as 2006.
Tom Howard
