Tyler, It is always a shame to lose a historical named tree. I think they help bring awareness of trees to the general public. It would be neat to get a ring count on the main trunk once it is cut down. Maybe the KCCC could be contacted and ask about the plans for the tree and the possibility of a ring count. More curiosity on my part than anything else - but I want to know its age.
