ENTS, This Tolkien quote is from The Two Towers when Saruman is talking about the coming new system of Sauron. Though LOTR is just fiction, though a brilliant one, it has much to say about the world today. Tolkien saw his world changing around him in rural England. He saw the countryside disappearing and the trees being felled. His love for the green of forests shows through all of his works. I know this is not really " winter " related per se' but still, I could not resist. I really appreciate Tolkien's love for all that is green and I feel that we ENTS share his thoughts, just like the ents, Tom Bombadil and the hobbits in his books.
This quote brings chills when I hear it on the film. It could well describe man in the orcs place. Only money matters, and it does not have even to be because of war. The forests and all else comes behind. Industry and Banks rule this world. " The old world will burn in the fires of industry. Forests will fall. A new order will rise. We will drive the machine of war with the sword and the spear and the iron fist of the orc. " James Parton On Dec 18, 6:28 pm, [email protected] wrote: > James, > > Is that really your poem?!
