The entire original thread - 26 messages - is still there on the Google Groups 
website under the original heading so they are not missing.  The splitting of 
the topic is an artifact of someone forwarding a second copy of a post back to 
the group after the first did not appear.  This forwarded copy added the FW to 
the Subject line, and Google Groups thought it was a new topic.  I can't fix 
the problem so now replies will be posted in which ever topic - the old one or 
the forwarded one - depending on which message engendered the reply.
