The past couple of weeks I have been poking around some of the Natural
Lands Trust preserves in SE PA and have found two impressive
noteworthy trees to report. The first was from the Cheslen Preserve
which is about 8 miles west of West Chester on the Strasburg Rd.

American Sycamore
circumference 23.1
spread 102x96
height 66.2

The second is from the Crows Nest Preserve which is adjacent to
Hopewell National Historic Site and French Creek State Park. This is
in an eco region known as the Hopewell Big Woods which consists of
73,000 acres of continuous forest of which 18,000 is protected. This
is rare in SE PA where interior forest is few and far between. The
Natural Lands Trust has been prominent in advocating further
preservation of this vital region of SE PA
