Subject Summer Internships at Congaree National Park 
Dear Congaree Community,
Please see the information below regarding 2010 summer internship
opportunities at Congaree National Park.  These positions include a
stipend, related training, and free on-site housing.  These are a great way
to spend a summer living and working in a National Park while building
professional experience, resumes, and networks.  Please forward as

1.  Geology (Fluvial Geomorphologist) Intern – This position, which is
offered in partnership with the Geological Society of America’s GeoCorps
program, will involve field-intensive research focused on describing,
sampling, and radiocarbon dating of river deposits along the park’s

2. Student Conservation Association (SCA) Interns – Congaree National Park
is hosting several interns in partnership with the SCA.  The deadline on
these is not fixed, but review of applications will begin soon!  Positions
including the following:
    a. Environmental Education (2 positions) – These interns will help
staff a third year of Junior Ranger Ecology Camp, which is a free,
standards-based program for local rising 5th graders.  This would make a
great opportunity for education majors or those with an interest in natural

     b. Invasive Plant Management (2 positions) – These interns will
assist with invasive plant control at Congaree, including mapping, chemical
