Wow, James, this is just what I need. If I send your mom one of my photos,
could she do a custom one? How much would that cost? I was actually
tryiing to figure out how to do it myself, but I¹m not very good at high
tech stuff.

Subject: [ENTS] Tree Signature Tags ( Sig-Tags )
ENTS,
My mother, Joyce Hayes has seen many of the posts we have done here on ENTS
and has quite an interest in the outdoors herself, however she has made the
comment a time or two that she did not think she could do that tree
measuring stuff. However she has shown an interest in ENTS in other ways.
ENTS is supposed to be about trees. In all aspects. Not only in
documentation but in art, folklore etc, as Bob has said. Anyway, my mother
has been into making Signature Tags ( Sig-Tags ) for short, for quite a
while. For anyone who don't know what sig-tags are, they are small
personalized images that are inserted into the body of the e-mail at the end
where you would put your name or signature. Sort of a personal fancy way of
doing it. They are inserted the same way as you would insert a gif or
emoticon into an e-mail. I occaisonally see members use emoticons in e-mails
on the list. Would there be a demand for this in ENTS or would it be better
suited for the Ning Primal Forests groups or none at all?
Naturally, if mom joined the list she would do ones only using trees or
forest life in accordance with ENTS " treeish " nature.
The graphics to do sig-tags are found online, or you can use your own
photos. You should use images that are uncopyrighted or in the public
domain. They are a number of sig-tag groups online to get blank images to do
the tags. Mom uses PhotoShop Elements 6 to do the editing and adding of the
name and effects.
To make tags for the group mom would post blank images to the group and if
someone liked one they would request that image personalized with their
name. Then mom would send them their finished tag. A part of the Entstrees
list or ENTS website could even be set up to do this. Again, only an idea.
Ed?
Yahoo mail, which I use for ENTS does not have a way that I know of to
insert image files into an e-mail from files on your computer, even though
it has its own Insert Emoticon part built in. However other e-mail programs
like Windows Mail, Outlook Express, Incredimail and probably Mozilla
Thunderbird can do this and use sig-tags.
I can make both sig-tags and stationery letters and still do them on
occaison but it is not really my thing to do. Mom really likes it. I just
wonder if there is a place or demand for a tagger in the group? Mom is
thinking about joining if there is an interest in it in ENTS and I told her
I would bring it up in a discussion.
By the way. Mom is the caretaker of the Hayes Maple, a huge single-trunked
Silver Maple on her property that is over 15 feet cbh!
I have attached a couple of sig-tag images I have done to give you an idea
of what they look like. Remember, I am only sending them as an attachment
only because I cannot insert them at the end of the e-mail, using Yahoo as
it should be done. Of course only one is needed at the end.
Just an idea,
James Parton
