VACANT POSITION
CARE International Indonesia is seeking to recruit a Project Coordinator to
manage implementation of an Integrated Conservation and Development Project
in
Sulawesi Tengah and Sulawesi Tenggara.
The project will have in excess of 50 staff who will be responsible for
implementing the following project components: (a) co-management systems,
(b)
agriculture and alternative livelihood activities, (c) institutional
strengthening, and (d) education.
Responsibilities and tasks:
� Manage and coordinate overall project implementation in the two
project locations
� Together with Technical Program Officers, monitor implementation
of
project components in relation to project activity schedules
� Monitor overall project implementation and expenditures in
relation
to the project's contractual obligations
� Coordinate with Team Leaders, Technical Advisors and Program
Development Unit to ensure timely and appropriate responses to project
implementation issues
� Prepare timely and comprehensive progress, monitoring,
evaluation
and
financial reports for CII and Donor Agency (ies) through the Regional Team
Leader, in coordination with Technical Advisors and Regional
Representatives
� Representation, liaison and co-ordination with relevant NGO/Govt
actors
� Assist Program Development Unit in preparing proposals and
documentation.
Qualifications
� At least S1 degree/post-graduate qualification in agricultural,
forestry or ecological based sciences required, preferably from an
internationally recognised university.
� Minimum five years field-based experience in community
development
on
an agricultural/ecological project.
� Minimum five years experience in project management, preferably
including large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
� Familiarity with GOI policies, practices and development plans
and
issues, specifically in the area of conservation and forest protection,
preferred
� Good inter-personal and communication skills essential
� Fluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia
� Computer literate
Desirable
� Further experience in alternative livelihoods, institutional
strengthening, and/or education.
� Experience in working with local NGOs
� Understanding of ICDP issues, e.g., biodiversity conservation

JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Project Coordinator/Assistant Project Coordinator
Base: Palu, Sulawesi Tengah/Kendari, Sulawesi Tenggara
Background: CARE International Indonesia has been working in Indonesia
since
1967. CARE Indonesia is currently one of the major emergency and relief
organisations within Indonesia. It also implements a range of development
projects focusing on water supply and sanitation, primary health care and
agriculture and the environment. Over the last five years CARE Indonesia
has
been implementing three inter-related projects in the area of conservation
and
development in Sulawesi and Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat. Over the next five
years this work will continue in the form of an Integrated Conservation and
Development Project (ICDP) to be implemented in Sulawesi Tengah and
Sulawesi
Tenggara. The project goal is to facilitate local capacity to sustain
locally
appropriate biodiversity conservation of protected areas enhanced by
improved
livelihoods of rural families living in buffer zones. This is to be
achieved
through implementation of a number of initiatives including: (a)
establishment
of co-management systems for Protected Areas; (b) implementation of
participatory Biodiversity Monitoring Systems; (c) promotion of sustainable
forest resource use activities; (d) the development of agriculture,
alternative
livelihoods and improved village-level marketing systems; (e) institutional
strengthening; (f) advocacy, and; (g) educational activities. The Project
Coordinator, to be based in Palu, will have overall responsibility for
project
implementation and management and will specifically deal with project
implementation in Sulawesi Tengah. The Assistant Project Coordinator, to be
based in Kendari, will assist and report to the Project Coordinator and
will
have specific responsibilities for project implementation in Sulawesi
Tenggara.
