I had to chuckle when I read your post. One of the things that always drives
me nuts on Photo Safari is trying to identify which L-series super telephoto
they are using. Since I'm not rich enough to OWN any of the big super
telephotos I don't have any exposure to the real thing. :-)

I noticed that each lens actually has a unique profile if you know what to
look for. What we need is a silhouette chart similar to those used during
WW-II for identifying enemy aircraft.  An alternative is to use the Canon
catalog.
