From: Steven Beck <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: EOS Canon 24-84 zoom Does anyone have an honest opinion of the Canon 24-85 zoom. How does it compare to the 28-105 or the 28-135 IS in size, weight, and optical quality? Thanks, ---------------------------------- Steven, I have owned this lens since it became available to the public. I have used the hell out of it! Is it perfect? No lens is but it certainly is nice. I have compared this lens to others because I am a driven optical quality freak that must sate his thirst for high quality. This lens does a good job at doing just that. It does have some barrel distortion though so if architecture is your game then buy single focal lengths. It suffers from flare so use a lens shade whenever possible (its almost always possible). The big questions. Sharpness? Very good across the board. Will hold up to enlarging nicely. Contrast? Excellent! Nice snap to your slides and it gives an overall sharper appearance to your shots. With color rendition it is very neutral. I can detect no color bias. All colors are saturated and true. Is there better? Of course but a a price. It is well made with the standard ring USM construction. Very fast and accurate AF. Silent of course. For the price and size of the canon 24-85mm USM you can't go wrong if you want to have a 24mm lens included on your standard zoom lens. zimmy * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
