Maybe you should try another finisher. I usually get the slides in the right order. However one or two times I had to unmount the slides and remount them. Usually they come with numbers printed on the mount. However the numbers are usually 4-39 and not 1-36. I remember some months where the lab I use suddenly started to number the 1-36. That was great. But somehow they stopped this great service and started the 4-39 game again. So I write my own numbers again. Manual mounting gives you another problem: What if the real frames are not 1-36 but 0-35 or 1A-35A? As I understand it, there is no renumber function in the software that comes with the ES-E1. Maybe it comes with the next version. In my selfwritten software I have a renumber function for the data that comes out of the TBE. To avoid confusion I have a strict system: I have 3 EOS 600 and an EOS RT each equiped with a TBE. The film rolls are numbered E601nnn or E602nnn or E603nnn or ET1nnn. The <nnn> being the film id number. I write this number on the film canister and then on the development bag.
