We had a long and very acrimonious discussion on the list a few months ago
about whether it's OK to post pointers to eBay auctions, and the list owner
concluded that it is not OK to post this kind of message. Steve, no
criticism of you is intended -- no doubt you were not a list member at that
time.
The rules say:
"'For sale' posts are appropriate, but only if they are about selling EOS
or compatible equipment (Canon or third party). Advertising for commercial
purposes is NOT allowed. Discussion about the List and its policy is also
welcome."
For reasons that were more than adequately discussed at that time, pointers
to eBay auctions are considered here to be "advertising for commercial
purposes". If any new list members wish to learn the arguments that were
put forward in the discussion that we had, please search the archives at

I'd like to suggest that whoever maintains the list rules (Willem-Jan?
Julian?) should update the paragraph that I've quoted above to make it
*crystal* clear to new list members that pointers to items on auction sites
are unacceptable.
