Check out the Pentax QR plate and receivers.  They are different than
the bogen or the RRS type.  I would suggest the medium format plates,
rather than the 35mm plates (more clamping area).  They should be
available where you are.  I use them with my 3444 and velbon combo for
my Eos 3.  Also, (in my opinion, of course) I think the extra weight of
the Manfrotto tripod is worth it just for the leg lock style.  Very
quick up and down, and I think it might be a bit taller than the Slik (I

Why spend hundred on a carbon fiber if it weighs as much as a metal tripod?
Seems silly.  Might as well use something like a Bogen 3001 or a Slik 300DX.
Unless you are doing some serious hiking, a heavy tripod in your car trunk 
does not weigh any more than a carbon fiber at 4x the price.
