No screen affects AF(AF sensor is in the mirror box, below the mirror,
while screens are above the mirror). A few metering modes are affected,
but usually there are instructions for exposure compensation.
For the EOS-A2 (EOS-5) the points need to be made on the screen
to be visible. For the EOS-3, EOS-1n, EOS-1v, all screens have the
points.
According to Popular Photography they start to black out as other
split images, about f4.5-6.7.
