What lens? well, expensive ones of course, because for auto focus to work in
lower light situation to track a moving subject, you are going to need fast
lens, and fast lens are never cheap.

Suggestions? Use 800 ASA films (or higher), meter on something relatively
close to the clothing of the skaters under the same lighting as the rink
portion itself, as the white ice rink will certainly throw off the exposure
meter within the camera. Use the widest aperture and fastest shutter speed
with the lighting and film combination.

And unless you want to spend the money on fast lens, you will likely have to
resort to pre-focus at a certain point of the rink where the skater will be
to take the shots, rather then rely on (lack-of) auto focus.

Regard,

Ken
