The short answer is that you should get a 380EX (or better) speedlight
and put it on. Select the center focus point on the Rebel G. Voila!
The Rebel will use the near IR (visible but just barely) focus assist
light on the 380EX instead of the hideous flashing builtin light.
Would this also work on My Vivitar 728AFC? ( I will try it, but do you know
if it will work, or do I have to get the Canon flash?) The Vivitar gives me
TTL Flash. Hey!! Never mind that last part. I just tried it in a dark
closet and it works!!!
