The 28-135 is a good choice. There are more birds below the
tree line than above but there are birds throughout. I think
the alpine vegetation you will find on the mountain warrants
a macro lense or a close-up filter/lens.
Make sure your equipment is well protected while hiking. The
trails don't have a lot of switchbacks so it will be strenuous
and rocky and in some places it might be slippery. Be careful.
