Can the tripod mount B be used on the Elan 7E with the Canon 100 2.8 Macro
USM and BP-300 battery pack?
Response:
The EF 100 f/2.8 Macro USM can be mounted with the BP-300 battery pack on
the EOS Elan IIE and EOS Elan 7E, but only if the tripod collar is removed.
If you wish to keep the tripod collar, then the battery pack cannot be used.
The equipment can also be used without the battery pack.

So my guess was correct. Either remove the battery pack, or the tripod ring,
or use and extension tube for clearance.
