Unless you switch it to the RS mode (see below) you get exactly the same frame rates as the 1nHS. What you always get, however, is the viewfinder not blacking out. And with no mirror movement you get less noise and less vibration. In fact the darn thing is so quiet, you sometimes wonder if you've taken the shot! The shutter release is lighter too, so you get more "negligent discharges"! The shorter release lag (basically what 'RS' is all about) is useful for remote- and self-trigger applications (eg: wildlife). Beats me why they never made a bulk back for it. >As the camera shop was so busy, I didn't have the chance to ask the >salesperson, but when I depressed the shutter half-way to activate the >system and achieve focus, the viewfinder seemed to dim, what's going on >there? The iris stops down. You can only get 10fps in AF single shot or MF mode; the f-stop is set and remains stopped down until you let go of the shutter button. Personally I can't see the point of trying to use the RS mode for sports because it won't follow focus. They've significantly reduced viewfinder blackout on the 1v so there's less need for for the RS - plus you can now get AI servo at 9fps.
